Getting relevant experience
Again, for those who already have relevant work experience in investment banking, corporate development, private equity, valuation and anything highly related to the skills required for investment banking, skip this step.

How does it work? simply put you are going to target small start up companies which have recently been VC funded. Why? because they are desperate to get people through the door to help grow the operations. Recently funded start-ups have 101 things to get done and often they are too busy to even start looking for people or advertise.
You are going to contact them and offer to volunteer your services for FREE so long as they can give you real experience and responsibilities and training. The reason why you are going to volunteer is because right now you have zero experience and zero skills to offer. This is simply a means to an end. After you complete this voluntary role you are going to use this experience to leverage either a paid internship or a paid full time role.
There are thousands of start ups and many get funded, the trick is to find the right one and some candidates have even gotten lucky and found start-ups that offer to cover their travel expense as well as give them change for lunch.
Apply and adapt the following steps to wherever you live.
Step 1 : Google “Venture capital / investment banks in [your location e.g. London]”
Step 2: Make a list of all venture capital firms and their investment in recent start ups
Step 3: call each firm and tell them you would like to volunteer for them to get experience
Why this works? start-ups who have just received funded by venture capital firms now have one big problem they need more people because they are rapidly expanding their operations and since hey are still small and start ups they are willing to take anyone.
